Wladimir Timler’s artistic practice explores the fluid nature of identity and the question of how its credibility may be evaluated. A visual foundation of his work is formed by multilayered dualisms.
His work invites both introspective contemplation and an examination of the self in relation to the external. This focus is directed through universal, anonymous pictorial spaces characterized by gentle color gradients.
The body appears in his work as an alter ego in the form of the tiger, is de- and reconstructed through engagement with digital reference material, or transcends its function as a motif to become part of the image identity.
His pictorial language is defined by fluid transitions, fragmented boundaries, virtuoso brush gestures, paint abrasion, and an oscillation between precision and dissolution.
